"I have gone to therapy and had both positive and negative experiences, but I have personally realized that I enjoy going to therapy a few times a month, but a lot of the treatment of the disorder is in my own hands (both literally and figuratively). Therapy, however, has opened my eyes to mindfulness - so I am especially grateful for that. My freshman year of college, I wish I knew how to better carry out my responsibilities as a college student while balancing it with trichotillomania. My freshman year was one of my darkest times mentally, as I adjusted to a new living environment, the transition from my real hair to my wig, and making tons of new friends so quickly."
